Are you a great multitasker?
Multitasking has been an object of massive scientific research. One of the most ambitious research projects was carried out at Stanford University1. The researchers found that multitasking results in:
- Less efficiency
- Lower quality of the end product
- Lower quality of experience
- Less overview
- Less focus
- Drains energy
- Creates habits
Eyal Ophir, one of the researcher, says about multitaskers: “They couldn't help thinking about the task they weren't doing".
Or in the words of professor Anthony D. Wagner: "When they're in situations where there are multiple sources of information they're not able to filter out what's not relevant to their current goal. That failure to filter means they're slowed down by that irrelevant information."
You can watch a two-minute interview with the two researchers here.
The Corporate-Based Mindfulness Training program teaches how to sustain focus and work smart rather than just hard. Based on the latest research on the brain and combined with an ancient technology for training the mind, the CBMT program has shown to have a great impact on our professional performance and well-being, while reducing stress.
